Studio Blackout

Pick any color you want. As long as it's black

For too long of a time my workspace consisted of sitting criss-cross on the floor, on the couch, or in my bedroom. While doing color selection or trying to use the pen tool my spine and I were not friends. This has to stop.

So this was motivation to start clearing out some much-needed space. Lucky (timing and opportunity) I had a friend who recently moved and willing to off-load some older furniture. Which of course included a desk. That could not have worked out better.

Now that the core piece is acquired and a space picked out it’s time to assemble. My overall aesthetic is pretty simple. Black. The real question is what shade?

After some deliberation “Very Black” looked best on the wall.

Decor also falls naturally. Still being a kid at heart so vinyl toys have been at my workspaces for the longest time. No reason for that to change. Sneaker culture, video games, and tv are part of my DNA. That would be also reflected in the space.

Here are some of the highlight items in the space:

MacBook Pro 13-inch
Asus VP279
Dell U2713HM
Logitech Z200 Computer Speakers
Henge Docks – Vertical docking station
SKALLRAN
SILLBO
Bluelounge CableBox

You can create anywhere but if the idea is to achieve uninterrupted deep work, appropriate space is needed. Here is the final workspace set up to do just that.

Welcome to Studio Blackout.
